about

Written by Jesse Grills.

E S Panic is the debut album by J-Func and The Don, who spawned out of Gold Coast hip hop/R&B/rap supergroup The Kentinos, released on October 22, 2006 through J-Func's Kentino Records. It showcased production entirely from J-Func and cemented his status as a force to be reckoned with not only behind the microphone but behind the production table as well.

The album peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 on November 9, 2006, shipping 145,000 units. It went on to sell 1.7 million copies, certifying it platinum by RIAA on October 1, 2007. The songs Darkness of the Night, Raw G'z and Running the Streets became pioneers within the Gold Coast Rap scene whilst the song Gold Coast Love encapsulated the party vibe the Kentinos had become known for.

After the Kentinos disbanded in 2011, preferring to go out on top rather then become a dying act, J-Func went on to start Aint Nothin a new fresh hip hop act with roots traced back to the Aint Nuttin track featured on the ES Panic. Aint Nothin's first album "Rhythm and Beats" was a hit sensation earning regular airplay on radio stations like Triple J and Radio Metro and the video clip for the album (youtu.be/Og5pQ_kDXzc?list=UU22GwrWV0HKaAuoGBa9s5bw) received plenty of airplay on Rage and MTV. This also led to J-Func getting his own Radio Show, The West Coast Corner on Radio Metro.
Aint Nothin's 2nd album "Love, Life and Casual Conversations" was met with mixed and critical reviews and failed to achieve the same success as "Rhythm and Beats" with some fellow hip hop producers accusing Aint Nothin of adopting a softer, more family friendly sound.

Currently 2014 and beyond, J-Func, has just recently released his own solo album "The Prelude Mixtape" (play.google.com/store/music/album?id=Bwvnpywribq6jvfv5efdb27niau) and it is been met with alot of positive reviews.

Needless to say the E S Panic will forever be recognised in history for its raw street appeal and is a staple album for any hip hop lover.
